Gabon’s economic agenda
Gabon’s presidency said bilateral trade reached 3.94 billion dollars in 2025, up 8.2 percent. Libreville says it wants productive investment in industrialization, infrastructure, local processing of raw materials, technology transfer and jobs rather than trade alone. Which agreements or memoranda, if any, were signed has not been confirmed.
The Austrian outlet news.at reported that Stocker planned, after the Shanghai expo, to hold talks with Xi and Premier Li Qiang in Beijing on the 6th. The economy minister and company representatives from AVL, Magna, Doppelmayr, voestalpine and RHI Magnesita were to accompany him.
The Austrian side noted that imports from China last year came to 17.5 billion euros against exports to China of 5 billion euros, and hoped to ease the imbalance; the economy minister put untapped export potential to China at 5.4 billion euros by 2030. Whether the issue came up in the meetings is not stated in the Chinese reports.
