The second large cruise ship built in China, Adora Flora City, is close to delivery from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. Huanqiu Times reported on Tuesday that handover is imminent.
According to Science and Technology Daily and others, Adora Flora City is China's second self-built large cruise ship. It is 341 meters long with a gross tonnage of 141,900, longer and larger than the first ship, Adora Magic City. The builder is Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

An April report said the schedule was almost two months ahead of the original plan, but the exact delivery date was not given in the reports we reviewed and is unconfirmed.
Better build efficiency than the first ship
Science and Technology Daily said that compared with the first vessel, the construction period was cut by eight months, about 3 million work-hours were saved, production efficiency rose about 20% and design change orders fell about 85%. Chinese media see this as a shift from a first-of-kind breakthrough to serial construction.
On equipment, the ship adds two desulfurization systems and five selective catalytic reduction (SCR) units, and its bridge uses smart screens instead of traditional instrument panels. Cabin numbers and passenger capacity were not given in the reports we reviewed.
After delivery, its first sailing season is to start from Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport. The first departure date is unconfirmed, and how the cruise industry rates its actual operating performance remains to be seen.
