The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 29th it will release greenbelt land at six sites in Gyeonggi Province as new housing candidates, supplying 76,700 homes. Combined with three sites from the August 13 package, the total is about 103,900 homes.
According to Kyunghyang Shinmun, the ministry on the 29th announced candidate sites in Gimpo, Guri, Hanam, Uijeongbu and Goyang, releasing greenbelt to supply 76,700 homes. Construction is targeted for 2030, with move-ins possible from 2033 at the earliest. The announcement follows the August 13 housing measures.

All sites lie within 5 km of the Seoul boundary. Adding the three sites from the August 13 package, Seoul Gangseo, central Namyangju and Gwangju Station Area 2 (27,200 homes), brings the total to about 103,900.
Transport and market reaction
The ministry said most candidates are already degraded with low conservation value and face haphazard development, so planned development is needed. Uijeongbu Darakwon includes the Camp Jackson site returned by US Forces Korea, while Guri Geonwon was long shelved for lack of project viability.
Transport is the challenge. Subway extensions and other links for most new sites remain at the planning stage. Gimpo Ara is tied to a Line 5 extension and nearby industrial and logistics parks to create a live-and-work district, while Hanam Misa and Gamil 2 are linked to extensions of Lines 5, 3 and 9. Woori Bank’s Ham Young-jin said the plan should ease concerns over medium- and long-term supply shortages, but that detailed schedules and commuting measures must be disclosed transparently to win market trust.
