The Renhe Grand Bridge on the Xi'an-Chongqing (Xiyu) high-speed railway, which spans Chengkou County in Chongqing, completed its closure on October 24. Xinhua said this helps the whole line open on schedule.
According to Xinhua, the Chengkou Renhe Grand Bridge on the Kangyu section of the line finished its last concrete pour on October 24, completing full closure. The bridge is 1,180.52 meters long, with a maximum span of 164 meters and a tallest pier of 132 meters. It was designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group and built by China Railway 12th Bureau Group.
광고 문의 · 300×250Per Cqnews (Hualong Net), its spans are laid out as 80+164+156+156+84 meters in a cable-stayed form of integrated pier-girder continuous rigid frame with a closed prestressed concrete box girder. It connects to Chengkou station and crosses the urban area of the county seat. Huanqiu described it as a bridge 'as tall as 45 storeys crossing the county town'.
Noise-barrier track design and construction hurdles
Hualong Net reported that the bridge merges the track structure with a fully enclosed sound barrier to cut noise while also addressing canyon wind and running safety, calling it a first in Chinese high-speed rail design. The 'first in the nation' claim is Hualong Net's and has not been independently verified. The site combines tall piers, steep canyons, complex geology, strong canyon winds and flood-season risk.
The construction team reportedly used intelligent hydraulic self-climbing formwork, real-time alignment monitoring and intelligent concrete curing. Xinhua described the bridge as one of the technically hardest and most complex bridge projects on the Kangyu section.
The Xiyu line has a main line of about 739 kilometers in two parts, Xi'an-Ankang and Ankang-Chongqing, and lies on the Beijing-Kunming and Baotou-Haikou corridors of the national 'eight vertical, eight horizontal' network. The Xi'an-Ankang section opened on September 28, and 226 bridges on the Kangyu section have now been closed. Xinhua gave no specific opening date for the whole line, which remains unconfirmed.
