An anonymous post claims National Security Council deputy secretary-general Lin Fei-fan will give a talk at the National Defense University on the 20th. As of late on the 19th the Ministry of National Defense and the university had not responded, and the event itself is unconfirmed.
The United Daily News reported on the evening of the 19th that an anonymous source claimed Lin Fei-fan, deputy secretary-general of the National Security Council, would visit the National Defense University on the 20th to speak. The source was an anonymous post on the Facebook page Kaobei Zhangguan 2026, which tagged the university. The post said the event was school-wide and that officers in training must attend.
광고 문의 · 300×250The reporter asked the university via the Ministry of National Defense about the schedule and topic, but more than ten hours later, at press time, there was no reply. Whether the talk will take place, what it covers and who invited him are therefore unconfirmed. Neither Lin nor the NSC is quoted in the report.
What is and is not confirmed
Two points can be confirmed: Lin is the NSC's deputy secretary-general, and the anonymous post and the UDN report exist. UDN did not say it had verified the post's authenticity or the poster's identity.
The post mocked the visit by pointing to his alternative-service background, and some commenters questioned whether his expertise suits teaching career officers, while others replied that alternative service does not mean a lack of ability and criticized the poster. These are online opinions, not official positions.
In a February interview with a US outlet, Lin said Taiwan is racing against time and urged support for the NT$1.25 trillion special defense budget, the UDN reported at the time. Any direct link to the rumored lecture has not been established.
The facts should clear up once the ministry or the university announces the schedule. This paper will follow up when the talk's occurrence and topic are officially confirmed.
