Doosan Bears lost 4-7 to Lotte on Oct. 12, but after their last regular-season game at Jamsil four club legends handed home plate to the captain. Season attendance topped 1.5 million for the first time.
According to Money Today and The Gate, Doosan lost 4-7 to Lotte at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul. It was Doosan’s final game of the 2026 regular season and the last regular-season game at Jamsil. Although it was a Monday, all 23,750 seats sold out 50 minutes before first pitch, the 33rd sellout of the year.
광고 문의 · 300×250The Gate reported season attendance of 1,507,522, the first time the club passed 1.5 million. Doosan finished 73-5-66 (.525), already locked into fifth place, and faces a wild-card series two days later. They used reliever Lee Yong-chan as an opener and 11 pitchers in short stints, with the wild card in mind.
Legends pass home plate
After the game the club held “Our Time, Our Memories.” Players lined up along the first-base line, and manager Kim Won-hyeong and captain Yang Eui-ji were among those thanking fans. Fireworks and a club-history video preceded four legends from different eras taking the field.
Park Chul-soon (1980s) stood at home plate, Kim Hyung-seok (1990s) at third, pitching coach Jung Jae-hoon (2000s) at second and Kim Jae-ho (2010s) at first. Together they lifted home plate and gave it to Yang, symbolizing the team and fans moving to a new ballpark together, Money Today said.
Kim Jae-ho said, “Thanks for everything, Jamsil,” while Park described it as a brief parting for a better environment, and Kim Hyung-seok said Jamsil felt like home. The program also included a performance by singer Kim Jong-jin and a moment of silence.
A national manager’s first pitch, and open questions
The Gate reported that Kim In-sik, the “national manager” who took over in 1995 and won two Korean Series titles, threw the ceremonial first pitch with current manager Kim Won-hyeong. Lotte manager Kim Tae-hyeong, a former Doosan champion, joined for a photo of three managers.
The new stadium’s name and move date did not appear in the confirmed reports. Doosan’s attention now turns to the wild-card series against LG at Jamsil on Oct. 14, and whether the 1.5 million-fan energy carries into the postseason.
