Polish police arrested a man after receiving information about a possible attack on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. The exact nature of the threat is not yet known.
According to Liberty Times and the Associated Press, Polish police said on Sunday (October 11) that they had received information about a possible plot to attack Tusk and the defence minister. An Interior Ministry spokesperson said on social media that an emergency meeting of security services was being held as a result.

Little else has been made public. In the reports we checked, the suspect's name and age, the place of arrest, whether he had weapons, the charges to be applied, and any backers or motive were not disclosed. It therefore cannot be said whether this was an individual's threat or an organised plot.
Notably, the arrest appears to have been a preventive step taken on advance information. The reports describe no actual attack or casualties. The source of the tip, whether the threat had reached the stage of a concrete plan, and whether anyone besides the prime minister and defence minister was included have not been confirmed, and we do not entertain speculation, such as foreign involvement, for which there is no basis.
The case comes amid a trend in which threats to political leaders have become a source of unease in European politics. Poland borders the Ukraine war front and military aid and security are central to its politics, which puts the level of protection for the prime minister and defence minister in focus. As the investigation proceeds, prosecutors and the Interior Ministry are expected to announce specific charges, and we will follow up once confirmed.
