Korea's National Police Agency said on the 10th that a British man in his 30s, who stabbed an acquaintance on a Seoul campus on September 29 and left the country, was arrested in Britain on the 8th. Police plan to seek his return through extradition.
The Kyunghyang Shinmun reported that the attack took place at about 11:50 a.m. on September 29 at a university in Seoul. The man, identified only as A, a British national in his 30s, stabbed an acquaintance, a woman in her 20s identified as B, in the neck and left the country immediately. B suffered a neck wound but is reported not to be in life-threatening condition.

Interpol cooperation and a liaison officer pinpoint his location
Through Interpol, police confirmed that A had entered Britain. A Korean police attache posted in the country then worked with Britain's National Extradition Unit (NEU) to pin down his whereabouts, and he was arrested on the 8th, British time, nine days after he fled.
The agency said it will coordinate with the Justice Ministry and other bodies to bring A back through extradition procedures, and will move quickly. Actual transfer must go through British judicial proceedings and may take time.
Because a suspect who fled abroad was caught in under ten days, the case is being cited as an example of international cooperation working against foreign suspects who leave Korea after a crime.
