Alumni Networks Are the Community
In Korea's Chinese community, school alumni ties are a key network holding the community together. Graduates of Chinese schools such as Hansung Chinese Middle and High School keep up relationships through association activities, family occasions and sports events, which is why wedding announcements and a National Day basketball cup notice appear on the same board.
As generations change and more young Chinese residents put down deeper roots in Korean society, the association faces the task of refreshing its contact network and widening participation.
October, a Month Crowded with Events
After the Mid-Autumn Festival come National Day celebrations and Overseas Chinese Day in October. With registration for the elders' banquet closing on 15 October, members who wish to attend should check the schedule in advance.
