Cumulative China-Europe freight train departures originating in China's Henan Province have passed 20,000, Huanqiu reported. The service has been developed as part of efforts to widen international logistics corridors for inland regions.
Cumulative runs of China-Europe freight trains originating in Henan Province have passed 20,000, Huanqiu reported on Sept. 12.
광고 문의 · 300×250The China-Europe trains are scheduled container services linking inland Chinese cities with destinations in Europe and Central Asia. Freight rates are higher than by sea but transit times are shorter, so electronics and machinery components and some perishable cargo have used them.
Henan has expanded routes centered on Zhengzhou while consolidating customs and transshipment procedures in one place, alongside standardizing multimodal documentation and operating refrigerated containers.
Trains departing from inland provinces shorten the road leg to coastal ports, which observers say widens the range of export routes available to inland manufacturing clusters.
Operations nonetheless depend on differences in rail gauge across transit countries and on customs processing speed. Handling capacity at border transshipment yards has been identified as a bottleneck on some stretches.
Since freight subsidies were scaled back, the mix of shippers has also shifted. Rebalancing toward higher-value goods has pushed up the cargo value carried per train.
Some Korean companies also weigh these routes when moving components made at inland Chinese plants to Europe. Transit days and insurance terms by route serve as the criteria for choosing.
