서울 불광산사, 효도월 자비삼매수참 법회 개설… 8월 15~17일 사흘간

한성화교협회 공지에 따르면 서울 불광산사(佛光山寺)가 효도월(孝道月)을 맞아 자비삼매수참(慈悲三昧水懺) 법회를 8월 15일부터 17일까지 사흘간 봉행한다.

음력 7월은 화인 전통에서 조상을 기리고 부모의 은혜를 되새기는 달이다. 대만 불광산 계열에서는 이 시기를 ‘귀신의 달’이 아니라 ‘효도의 달’로 부르며, 두려움 대신 감사의 의미를 강조해 왔다.

자비삼매수참은 당나라 오달국사(悟達國師)의 설화에서 유래한 참법이다. 사흘에 걸쳐 상·중·하 세 권을 나눠 봉송하며, 참회를 통해 마음의 응어리를 씻어낸다는 뜻을 담고 있다.

서울 불광산사는 재한 화인과 한국인 신도가 함께 모이는 몇 안 되는 공간 가운데 하나다. 법회는 통상 중국어와 한국어를 함께 사용해 진행된다.

고향을 떠난 사람에게 조상을 기리는 달은 무게가 다르다. 성묘를 갈 수 없는 거리에서, 법당은 그 거리를 잠시 좁혀주는 자리가 된다.

慈悲三昧水懺源自唐代悟達國師的傳說。三日間分上、中、下三卷諷誦，寓意透過懺悔洗去心中的鬱結。

首爾佛光山寺是在韓華人與韓國信眾共同聚集的少數空間之一。法會通常以中文與韓文並用進行。

對離鄉的人而言，追念祖先的月份分量不同。在無法掃墓的距離之外，佛堂成為暫時拉近那段距離的所在。

According to a notice from the Hansung Overseas Chinese Association, Fo Guang Shan Temple in Seoul will conduct the Compassionate Samadhi Water Repentance service over three days, August 15 to 17, for Filial Piety Month.

In Chinese tradition the seventh lunar month is for honoring ancestors and recalling parents' kindness. The Fo Guang Shan order calls it Filial Piety Month rather than Ghost Month, stressing gratitude over fear.

The Water Repentance derives from the Tang-era tale of the master Wuda. Its three volumes are recited across three days, expressing the washing away of what has hardened in the heart through repentance.

The Seoul temple is one of the few spaces where Chinese residents and Korean devotees gather together; services are typically conducted in both Chinese and Korean.

For those who left home, the month of honoring ancestors carries a different weight. At a distance where visiting a grave is impossible, the hall briefly shortens that distance.
