Germany is looking to sign a cooperation agreement with Nvidia and put hundreds of millions of euros into accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence in industry, Taiwan's Liberty Times reported in the early hours of October 16. The signing date and exact amount are unconfirmed.
Liberty Times published the item around 3:36 a.m. Taiwan time on October 16 under a headline saying Germany plans to sign a cooperation agreement with Nvidia, spending hundreds of millions of euros to speed AI adoption in industry. The word plans suggests nothing has yet been signed.

Existing German-Nvidia ties
The two sides are not new partners. According to Taiwan's Central News Agency and others, Nvidia announced last November that it would build an AI cloud data center with Deutsche Telekom, targeting launch in the first quarter of the following year. Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang was also reported to have met Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin last June to discuss AI development and chip cooperation.
Whether the proposed pact extends those arrangements cannot be told from the Liberty Times headline alone.
Germany in the industrial AI race
Germany has a large manufacturing base, and using AI in factory automation and on production floors is seen as tied to industrial competitiveness. Last year's reports citing German media likewise said Berlin wants to catch up in AI.
The real scale and effect of the pact can be judged only after a formal announcement. We will follow up once official statements from the German government and Nvidia are confirmed.
