The Chaohu-Ma'anshan high-speed railway in Anhui Province has formally entered joint commissioning and trial running, the last technical verification stage before service begins.

Joint commissioning runs test trains over a completed line to confirm that signaling, communications and power supply equipment perform as designed. The process typically takes several months.

The line connects Chaohu and Ma'anshan with the aim of cutting travel time between cities within Anhui. Access toward Nanjing is also expected to improve through connections with existing lines.

China's high-speed network has expanded toward through running rather than transfers between lines, and branch-type routes are commonly designed to join trunk corridors.

Trial running includes maximum-speed tests and braking-distance measurement. Issues identified at this stage are remedied before opening.

The opening date depends on trial results and administrative procedure. Commercial service commonly begins within a few months of commissioning starting.
