아프리카의 첫 달 탐사 프로젝트 ‘Africa2Moon’이 중국의 달 탐사선 ‘창어(嫦娥)’ 임무에 실려 우주로 향한다. 신흥 우주국들과의 국제 협력이 한 걸음 더 나아갔다는 평가다.

환구망에 따르면, ‘Africa2Moon’ 프로젝트의 아프리카 측 책임자는 인터뷰에서 아프리카 최초의 달 탐사 시도가 창어 임무에 탑재돼 발사될 예정이라고 밝혔다. 아프리카 대륙이 달 탐사 대열에 처음으로 합류하는 상징적 사업이다.

이 프로젝트는 과학 관측과 교육·인재 양성을 함께 목표로 한다. 위성·탑재체 개발 과정에서 아프리카 연구진과 학생들이 참여해 우주 분야의 역량을 키우는 데 초점을 둔 것으로 전해졌다.
