경향신문에 따르면 최근 MZ세대(청년층) 순유입의 약 91%가 수도권에 집중된 것으로 나타났다. 일자리와 주거를 좇는 이동이 특정 지역으로 몰리는 ‘K자 양극화’ 양상이다.

배경에는 반도체·바이오 등 첨단산업 일자리의 수도권 집중과, 그에 따른 주거·생활 인프라의 쏠림이 있다. 청년이 모이는 곳에 소비와 서비스가 따라가며 격차가 굳어진다.

비수도권은 인구 유출로 지역 소멸 우려가 커진다. 지방정부는 산업 유치와 정주 여건 개선으로 청년을 붙잡으려 하지만 효과는 더디다.

전문가들은 일자리·주거·교육을 묶은 종합 대책 없이는 흐름을 되돌리기 어렵다고 지적한다.

Behind it lies the capital-region concentration of chip and bio jobs and the housing and living infrastructure that follows; where the young gather, consumption and services follow, hardening the gap.

Outside the capital region, outflows deepen fears of local extinction. Provincial governments try to retain youth through investment and better living conditions, but progress is slow.

Experts say the trend is hard to reverse without a comprehensive package linking jobs, housing and education.
