법무부 출입국·외국인정책본부 통계에 따르면 2025년 12월 기준 대만 국적 F5 비자 소지자는 약 1만 명대, F1·F2 비자 소지자를 합하면 1만 2천여 명 규모로 집계됐다.

숫자 너머의 공동체

법무부는 올해 1월 기준으로 국내에서 출생해 거주 중인 대만 국적자를 추리면 1만 명을 조금 넘는 수준이라고 밝혔다. 통계는 공동체의 규모와 정착의 깊이를 함께 보여준다.

오랜 정착의 역사 속에서 화교 공동체는 학교·상가·종친회 등 고유의 생활 기반을 일궈 왔다. 세대가 이어지며 정체성과 생활 양식도 변화해 왔다.

Per immigration-policy statistics, as of December 2025 Taiwan-nationality F5 visa holders numbered around ten thousand, and together with F1 and F2 holders the total was about 12,700.

A community beyond the numbers

The justice ministry said that, as of January, Taiwan nationals born and living in Korea number just over ten thousand. The statistics show both the community's size and the depth of its settlement.

Through a long history of settlement, the community built its own foundations—schools, shopping streets and clan associations. As generations continue, identity and ways of life have changed.
