현장에서는 손님과 직원 등 23명이 대피했다. 이 가운데 60대 여성 1명이 가슴이 답답하고 몸이 좋지 않다고 호소해 예방 차원에서 인근 런아이병원으로 옮겨졌으나, 큰 이상은 없는 것으로 전해졌다. 다른 인명 피해는 보고되지 않았다.

소방당국은 지하 1층 샤워실 부근에서 시작된 불로 약 15㎡의 샤워 설비가 탔다고 밝혔다. 지하 공간에서 발생한 화재가 짙은 연기를 빠르게 만들어내며 대피를 어렵게 만든 만큼, 당국은 정확한 발화 원인과 책임 소재를 조사하고 있다.

Around 11 p.m. on June 15, a fire started in the basement of a spa on Dunhua South Road in Taipei's Da'an District, sending up heavy smoke. According to the Liberty Times, the fire department deployed 27 fire engines, three ambulances and 83 firefighters to fight the blaze.

When firefighters arrived, thick smoke was pouring from the basement, and after about an hour of searching they confirmed the fire had started in a shower room of the spa on the first basement level. Crews doused the flames, which were fully extinguished at about 12:09 a.m. on June 16.

Twenty-three people—customers and staff—were evacuated. Among them, a woman in her 60s reported chest tightness and feeling unwell and was taken to nearby Renai Hospital as a precaution, but was said to be in no serious danger. No other casualties were reported.

The fire department said the blaze began near the first-basement shower room and burned about 15 square meters of shower fixtures. Because a basement fire produced thick smoke quickly and made evacuation harder, authorities are investigating the precise cause and where responsibility lies.

Spas, saunas and steam facilities in central Taipei often combine enclosed basement spaces with heavy electric-heating and hot-water equipment, leaving them vulnerable to fire and smoke spread. With many similar venues in Korea frequented by Chinese residents and tourists, the case is a reminder to check exit locations and the importance of moving out early.
